Film Review: Anvil! The Story of Anvil (Live From Memphis)

Have you ever played in a garage band or did something as a hobby in the hopes of doing it for a living? Over time, you get older, life happens, the band breaks up, dreams fade, the quest for fame and fortune falls by the wayside in favor or reality and sensibility. What if you didn’t make it, but you didn’t give up that dream, either? What if you kept at it, even though you had to balance a day job and the dream for most of your life? What if you never gave up on the dream, even when it looked like it would never happen? Your life would probably be a lot like the members of Anvil.

Film Review: Goodbye Solo (livefrommemphis.com)

On Friday, the critically-acclaimed indie film Goodbye Solo began screening in Memphis. This film has received several awards at different film festivals and is cowritten, produced, edited, and directed by Ramin Bahrani. Bahrani also garnered critical acclaim for his two previous films, Man Push Cart and Chop Shop. Goodbye Solo is also the first lead role for veteran actor Red West.

Artist Spotlight: Infinito (livefrommemphis.com)

I want to spotlight a very prolific, versatile artist and a good buddy of mine. His name is Marcellous Ka Sekhem Lovelace aka Infinito 2017.

The painter, rapper, and up-and-coming filmmaker is originally from Chicago, but he now resides in Memphis. Poet/rapper/producer Ennis Newman aka Fathom 9 introduced me to his music. He has recorded countless albums since the late 1990s, he has produced DVDs and is currently working on a short film as we speak.
